Title: Ripple
Dimension: 3inches by 2inches
The sculpture "Ripple" is a representative sculpture depicting a drowning hand in the ocean. This sculpture is about 3 inches wide and 2 inches tall and is made of perla soap. Given the current pandemic, almost everyone feels as if they are drowning due to the overwhelming nature of everything that is going on. I wanted to capture the feeling of how stressful and difficult it is to balance your life in the face of adversity. Because of the heaviness that people feel, it can be difficult for them to overcome the massive and large waves. While this is sometimes true, some of them try to overcome and fight through the waves. I wanted to make this sculpture as a reminder to everyone that even when we feel low and weak, there is still a sliver of space that can help us overcome our challenges and struggles (the fingers peeking through the waves).
